How to Get Pregnant Fast – Top 5 Tips

If you want to know how to get pregnant fast then it’s not always simply a matter of trying for a baby a few times and crossing your fingers. There are ways to take control and improve your chances of getting pregnant each month by making a few small adjustments to your lifestyle and habits. This post will show you some of the top five ways that you can get pregnant faster.

1. Have Regular Enjoyable Sex

Many women fall into the notion that they should just try and have sex as close to ovulation as possible and while it’s true that you are only fertile when you ovulate, often times women get it all wrong about timing.
So to make sure that you catch that egg you need to be having regular intercourse at least three times a week, preferably every second day throughout your entire cycle. While that may seem like a lot of baby making, it actually works out around eleven times per cycle if you have a regular 28 day cycle and avoid intercourse during menstruation.

Women who fall pregnant easily usually have a very healthy sex life and enjoy lovemaking. Trying for a baby does sometimes make lovemaking seem like a chore but you can do things to help ignite the passion again such as romantic evenings, flirting and massages with your partner

2. Use Positions That Are Known For Better Conception

While there isn’t one ‘best’ position when it comes to getting pregnant, there are positions that can help improve your chances of sperm getting to where it is supposed to much easier. That includes missionary and rear entry.

In fact nearly any position that involves deeper penetration where the sperm is deposited as close to the cervix as possible will improve your chances of conceiving a baby.

3. Get Him to Wear Boxers

By getting your partner to wear boxer shorts instead of tight underwear and having him avoid hot showers or baths, you’ll be improving the health and potency of his sperm. If his sperm gets too hot they can often die off before ejaculation which makes getting pregnant increasingly difficult.

But don’t go to the other extreme and ask him to sit on icepacks because that will be too cold. Ideally by keeping his testes just one degree cooler has often been enough to help previously unsuccessful couples go on to have lots of babies and you can do that by him wearing boxers.

4. Keep Yourself Healthy

This one is a no brainer but by eating healthy foods and getting regular exercise you’ll not only improve your health but also your ability to conceive.

Many studies have shown that women who start an exercise program (walking and yoga have been shown to have the most success) reduce stress, improve circulation and balance hormones – all of which are extremely important to your fertility.

As an added benefit, you’ll find that your healthy body will have a much easier time during the pregnancy when you do get pregnant.

5. Drink Lots Of Water.

Did you know that dehydration affects your fertility? It’s true so make sure you keep up your liquids.
As an added benefit you’ll have more fertile egg white cervical mucus which is essential to improving your chances of making a baby.

Still Not Pregnant? What to Do Next

If you haven’t fallen pregnant within a year of trying then it’s possible that you or your partner may have something that is preventing you from conceiving.

It’s worth checking out by visiting your doctor or gynecologist; especially if it’s something that’s easily fixed and will allow you to go on to have a healthy happy baby. Sometimes it’s not enough knowing how to get pregnant fast, you just need a little helping hand.

Trying to Get Pregnant? The Top 4 Supplements You Might Need

Trying to get pregnant is a struggle and a reality for so many women (I know because I’m one of them) but there are things you can do to help improve your chances of getting pregnant such as diet, fertility supplements, ovulation timing and more. I’ve previously talked a bit about ovulation timing, so in this post I wanted to go over some of the better vitamin and herb supplements that have helped many women conceive naturally.

Here are my top supplements to get pregnant:

Vitex (Agnus Castus / Chasteberry)

There have been a ton of studies that show how great Vitex is as helping many women fall pregnant and balance their reproductive systems but what does it actually do and how much do you need to take?

Vitex helps you get pregnant by balancing your hormones, which is why it is especially beneficial for women with PCOS (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome). With today’s diets and lifestyles it’s not uncommon to have your balance of estrogen and progesterone out of whack making it difficult to conceive and so Vitex works with the body to balance things out again.

If you have a luteal phase defect (where the second half of your cycle after ovulation is less than 10 days) then many women have reported that Vitex can help correct that.

Vitex does take a while to work within the body so allow up to 3 – 6 months before you see any significant changes.

It can be taken throughout your whole cycle until your fall pregnant and you can get it in tea, tincture or capsule form whichever you prefer.

Vitamin B6

Vitamin B6 is another great fertility booster and should be taken by all women (not just those trying to get pregnant).  Many women say that the used vitamin b6 to get pregnant successfully after trying prior to using it for months without success.

It is beneficial in reducing period cramps, PMS, fluid retention, mood swings, and of course for improving fertility. It will increase your odds of falling pregnant and also for preventing miscarriage in the early weeks.

It’s very good for women who have a luteal phase defect and they will benefit greatly from Vitamin B6 as it helps increase the levels of progesterone in the body. A deficiency in B6 leads to too much estrogen. It’s also great for improving cervical mucus so that sperm can live longer which increases your chance of conceiving each month.

Most women report great results with around 60mg per day but it’s safe to take up to 200mg.
Do you take B6 for your whole cycle?  Yes, you can safely take it throughout your whole cycle and it’s best taken in conjunction with the other B group vitamins.

Dong Quai (Angelica Sinensis Root)

Dong Quai is a Chinese herb known for its blood building properties. It is used extensively in China for fertility problems and to regulate the menstrual cycle.

It can be taken throughout your cycle except when you are menstruating.

Many women claim that Dong Quai is very helpful in implantation by making the uterus soft enough for a fertilized egg to implant and thus making it very helpful in falling pregnant.

Evening Primrose Oil

Evening Primrose Oil (EPO) can help you in getting pregnant by improving the quality of your cervical fluid. It is an essential fatty acid that contains gamma linolenic acid (GLA).

The better quality your cervical mucus, the more fertile that you become, with the most fertile cervical fluid often known as egg white cervical mucus (ewcm). This fluid is clear, watery and stretchy very much like real egg whites and is what the sperm uses to swim through to reach the egg. The more you have the easier it makes it for the sperm to reach the egg.

Drinking a lot of water can also help in improving your cervical fluid.

Since Evening Primrose Oil can cause uterine contractions, it should only be taken from menstruation to your ovulation day and not after if you are trying to get pregnant.

So if you have been asking yourself what vitamin helps you get pregnant, then I hope this post has helped you.

Conceiving a Girl

A few weeks back I wrote a post about how to conceive a girl baby and talked about both The Shettles Method for conceiving a girl and the O+12 method. I also briefly touched on the Whelan Method but to be fair didn’t write about it as much as Shettles because I didn’t have all the information.

So this post I’m going to go into more detail on the Whelan Method and also look at some other sex selection theories as well so you have all the information.

The Whelan Method for Conceiving a Girl

This method was developed by Elizabeth Whelan and is based on the works of Dr Rodrigo Guerrero of Colombia’s research from the 1970’s.

Like the Shettles Method, this also relies on ovulation timing but is in fact the exact opposite of when Shettles says to time intercourse.

From a study of over 1,300 women who charted their temperature’s using basal body temperature (BBT), it was found that on the day of the temperature rise (indicating that ovulation had just occurred) that there was a greater chance of having a girl baby than a boy on that day.

In fact the studies went on to say, you had the best chance of having a boy baby if conception occurred six or more days before the temperature rise.

The success rate of the Whelan method says that it works 65% of the time for a boy, and 57% of the time for a girl.

So if you want to try the Whelan Method for getting pregnant with a girl:
  • Take your temperature every morning using basal body temperature before you get out of bed and chart your temperature changes. On the morning that you notice an increase of about half a degree or more have intercourse as soon as possible within the next 24 hours.
The Ericsson Method for Conceiving a Girl

A little more scientific than the previous method’s I’ve outlined on this getting pregnant blog, the Ericsson method uses intrauterine insemination (IUI) to deposit the sperm containing the gender of your choice into the woman’s body close to when she ovulates.

Developed by Ph.D. Ronald J Ericsson, he developed a method of separating the X and Y chromosome sperm through a filtering process and then depositing them into the uterus.

This method claims a higher success rate than the others, with a 73% success rate of having a female baby and 71% success rate of having a male child. This method obviously cannot be done at home however, and must be done by a qualified fertility doctor or IVF clinic. For that reason it can be quite costly.

If you want to try the Ericsson Method for getting pregnant with a girl:
Using the Chinese Gender Chart for Conceiving a Girl

And finally we come to the Eastern way of trying for a girl that suggests that certain months are better for conceiving a boy or girl depending on your age. Legend has it that this calendar was buried in a royal tomb near Beijing over 700 years ago.

While no real studies have shown whether this calendar works or not (some claim a 90% success but no scientific studies have ever been conducted on it), it can be fun to try and predict the outcome of your babies gender with the Chinese Gender Chart:

All of these methods that I have outlined on this blog are still not guaranteed 100%. The only real way to ensure you have a baby with the gender of your choice is through artificial insemination or selective abortion – and even then the results are not guaranteed, not to mention the ethical dilemma’s they create.

Different Methods in Getting Pregnant

If you are trying to get pregnant, you probably want to know some different methods in getting pregnant that people have used successfully. Well I’ve done a few searches online and it seems that there isn’t a ‘guaranteed’ way to conceive a baby but there are a few things to help sway the odds into your favor so you have a better chance of getting pregnant.

Get Healthy

First and foremost you and your partner’s health should be a top priority. So if you both drink or smoke it’s time to give up any unhealthy habits that might affect your bodies ability to conceive.

That also means eating a healthy diet, getting regular exercise and doing some form of relaxation such as meditation or yoga. In fact yoga for fertility is fast becoming a very popular way for women to balance their reproductive hormones and get pregnant faster. At the very least it can help reduce the stresses of trying to conceive and that’s got to be a good thing.

Caffeine should be avoided by the women, but not the man – ironically caffeine ‘wakes up’ sperm and by the man drinking it before intercourse can improve your chances of getting pregnant.

Improve your Cervical Mucus

Next step in improving your fertility is to increase the amount of fertile cervical fluid that you produce. The most optimal time to get pregnant is when you have lots of egg white cervical fluid (ewcf) as this is what sustains the sperm for longer and allows them to live for up to 5 days.

You can increase your ewcf by drinking lots of water and green tea. Also eating baby carrots has been known to increase the amount of fluid you produce. And finally many women swear by taking evening primrose oil to improve the quality of their cf.

Know your Ovulation Day

Obviously if you know when you are going to release an egg the better the chances of timing sex on your ovulation day to increase your chances of conceiving. You have the highest chance of getting pregnant on the day that you ovulate.

You can determine your ovulation day by using ovulation predicator kits, charting your temperature or using ovulation saliva monitors.

These are just some of the methods of getting pregnant, I have included many more throughout this blog so feel free to take a look around.

Ways to Get Pregnant Fast!

Whether you are attempting pregnancy for the first time or have been trying to get pregnant for a while you should know that conceiving is not quite as simple as your biology teacher would make you believe. In fact each month, even a perfectly healthy couple only has around a 25% chance of conceiving a baby.

Of course you can increase your chances if you know when you are fertile and what positions are best for getting pregnant, so this post will go over some of the best ways to get pregnant.

For starters you need to know when in your cycle you ovulate (release an egg). A woman is actually only fertile for about 3 or 4 days per month and has the highest chance of conceiving on the day of ovulation. So determining your ovulation day is the first step in getting pregnant. Many women assume that they ovulate on Day 14, however this day is actually just an average and it could be that you ovulate earlier or later than this (I actually ovulate on Day 17). You’ll need to know this day in order to increase your chances to get pregnant each month.

There are many different ways to find your ovulation day, you can try charting your temperature, using ovulation predictor kits (OPK’s), using a saliva monitor like Maybe Baby, taking note of your cervical position or becoming aware of your changes in fertile egg white cervical mucus.
Let’s look at each method for how to fall pregnant fast in more detail:

Charting Your Temperature: This method relies on taking your temperature (either orally or vaginally) each morning before you get up using a basal body thermometer (BBT Method). When your body releases an egg your hormone level change and your temperature will usually go up a small amount. Once you see the thermal shift and your temperature has gone over the coverline for at least three days you’ll know that your ovulation day was the first day your temperature rose.

Of course using the BBT Method you can only know you’ve ovulated after the fact, but charting for at least three months you’ll get to know your body quite well and you can see which day you usually ovulate each time in your cycle.

Ovulation Predictor Kits (OPKs): These tests work very similar to pregnancy tests in that you need to pee on them to detect changes in hormones. As your body is getting ready to release an egg your hormone levels change and the OPK’s will pick up on that. You may see two lines on your test strip but for an OPK to be positive the second line must be as dark or darker then the control line. You will then probably ovulate in the next 24 hours, but you might want to keep charting your temperature to confirm that.

Saliva Monitors: Like OPK’s these will tell you if you are about to ovulate. When your body is close to releasing an egg your saliva changes to a ferning pattern which can be detected under a microscope. You could use a regular microscope or one of the saliva monitors such as Maybe Baby to look for the pattern.

Cervical Position: If you are not squeamish then keeping note of the position of your cervix can also indicate when you are ovulating. When you are in your fertile phase and your body is capable of getting pregnant your cervix rises high in the body (and opens slightly). It also gets softer. When you are not fertile, it gets harder and lower.

Cervical Fluid: Cervical Fluid or Cervical Mucus is another great way to determine when you are fertile. As you are approaching your ovulation day, your body starts producing more mucus. It changes from dry, to sticky, to creamy, to wet and finally to the most fertile cervical mucus – one that is very slippery and has the appearance of egg whites – which is why it’s often called egg white cervical fluid (ewcf). This helps the sperm travel through the body to the egg and is a great indication of when you are about to ovulate. You are most fertile on the days where you have ewcf.

So now that you know your ovulation day you are one step closer to getting pregnant.
Here are some more tips for increasing your cervical fluid to make yourself even more fertile:
  • Drink lots of water – your body needs to make the ewcf out of something
  • Baby carrots – the beta carotene has been known to increase the amount of cf you produce
  • Plain Robitussin – the active ingredients help thin out your cf making it easier for the sperm to swim through
Which positions are best to get pregnant and conceive a baby?
Actually there is no one best position to get pregnant, however using gravity to your advantage can help (so try and avoid standing positions).

However most couples who conceive say that the two most favorable positions are the missionary position and doggy style. Personally I favor the doggy position or any other deep penetration position when you want to fall pregnant because it deposits the sperm as close to the cervix as possible and you want as much sperm to be able to reach the egg to increase your changes of conceiving.

Knowing your ovulation day is the best way to know the ways to get pregnant fast but you can give your body a helping hand by increasing your cervical fluid and using positions that help you conceive as well.
